About Us

Value Learning Intercultural Specialists is a consulting business committed to advancing global competence and fostering intercultural understanding.


Value Learning provides consultation, facilitation, program design and development to education, non-profit, and government organisations.

 Meet Our Directors


Co-founders Fran Baxter and Marcela Lapertosa are intercultural learning practitioners who have built their expertise and reputation by delivering valued learning experiences and high quality projects to address the needs of some of the world's leading intercultural learning and education organisations. Together they manage a series of government, industry and educational projects. 


Fran Baxter 

Executive Director 

An intercultural educator with a passion for learning, Fran has a deep desire to build greater intercultural skills with groups, individuals and organisations. With more than 25 years’ experience in international education, intercultural learning and student mobility, she designs and facilitates learning programs delivered in Australia and across the globe. Fran manages and designs government funded projects connecting Australia with Indonesia, India and China, and manages projects related to vocational and teacher education, intercultural communication, inclusion and belonging.


Marcela Lapertosa

Director of Education 

A Cross Cultural Psychologist with a passion for fostering intercultural understanding, Marcela is also a master facilitator and trainer who has travelled the world providing global competence, intercultural learning and leadership training to diverse audiences. Marcela led the development of multiple intercultural learning curricula to enhance study abroad experiences for students, host families, volunteers and international education professionals. An advocate for  Global Citizenship education, Marcela organises and speaks at several conferences around the world.

Mikaylie Page

AIYEP Co-ordinator 

As COO of the ASEAN-Australia Strategic Youth Partnership, Mikaylie is focussed on empowering young people and creating connections across Australia and Southeast Asia. During her Law Arts degree in International Relations, Political Economics and Social Policy, Mikaylie spent a semester studying Indonesian Business and Law at the Islamic University of Indonesia in Yogyakarta,  undertaking internships at PUSHAM Centre for Human Rights contributing to peace-building through interfaith dialogues, and Wahana Visi (World Vision) in Jakarta with the End Violence Against Children team. In 2021, she also completed a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Planning. 


Nishita Mehta

VYL-India Co-ordinator India

A program manager, intercultural trainer and risk manager, Nishita's work is focussed on global citizenship, using media for social change, STEM, Hindi language learning and cultural immersion.  Nishita holds a B. Arts in Psychology and French, and Masters in Journalism and Communication studies.  In her home country India, she has coordinated programs including the BP STEM Academy, the US State Department YES Abroad program, the Kamenori Program, and the Jenesys program with Japan. Nishita is passionate about enabling and empowering individuals, especially high-school students, with global competencies and intercultural skills required for a sustainable future.

Sophia Fuller

Communications Manager

Sophia holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Indonesian Studies. Since, she has worked in video marketing and become a digital marketing and video production specialist, not only producing content but also teaching others how to share their message and purpose with a larger online audience. Sophia works with companies like Value Learning to assist them promote and build relationships across cultures. While all our programs are special to her, the Australia Indonesia Youth Exchange Program, draws on her passion for Indonesia, youth and digital marketing.
